35.00 hours/week, 8:30am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday
Salary : $20.00 per hour

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Assist the NCTR Communications Officer with managing and updating the NCTR’s social media presence and website.
-Assist with Drafting news releases, stories, statements and newsletters
-Update and adjust graphics, and other communication materials as needed
-Collaborating with staff on new ideas, directions, and venues for marketing and communications
-Assist with preparation and implementation of special events

EDUCATION:
– Recently completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., English, Marketing/Communications, or Public Relations)
-Individuals must be between the ages of 15 and 30 years old.
EXPERIENCE:
– Experience working with word processing, PowerPoint and Excel is essential.
– Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space is required.
– Previous internship or related experience in marketing of communications is an asset.
– Experience working with Indigenous organizations, peoples, elders and communities is preferred.
– Proficiency in Mailchimp, WordPress content management system, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop preferred.
– Knowledge of HTML and graphic design is an asset.
– An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
– A commitment to professional ethics and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
-Detail-oriented and organized with strong written and verbal communication.
– effective communicator in both written and oral is essential.
– Ability to communicate in a professional manner with press and community contacts is required.
– Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
-Enthusiasm for the NCTR mandate is essential.
