Call for Survivors: Seeking Members for a Virtual Gathering Committee

Na-mi-quai-ni-mak (I remember them) is planning a national virtual gathering on December 15, 2021 to bring communities and Survivors together to recognize the impact of the Residential School System and support Indigenous forms of remembering and commemoration.

We are seeking four (4) Survivors from across Canada to be part of the planning committee. Survivors taking part in the planning committee will participate with NCTR staff in planning the event and join virtual meetings biweekly. Survivors who participate as part of the planning committee will be provided an honorarium for meetings they attend.

***Must have access to a computer or other electronic devices as the event and planning meetings are virtual and will take place via Zoom.***

If you require any further information, please contact NCTR toll-free at 1-855-415-4534.

Na-mi-quai-ni-mak (I remember them) Community Support Fund is a program to support Indigenous communities, Survivor Organizations, registered non-profits, and others with small grants for memorial and commemoration activities.

NCTR’s spirit name – bezhig miigwan, meaning “one feather”.

Bezhig miigwan calls upon us to see each Survivor coming to the NCTR as a single eagle feather and to show those Survivors the same respect and attention an eagle feather deserves. It also teaches we are all in this together — we are all one, connected, and it is vital to work together to achieve reconciliation.
